Wickline Resigns Chief Deputy Position After Failure To Timely Report Auto Accident

Covington, VA (April 24, 2024) - The following is a statement issued by Alleghany County/Covington Sheriff Kyle Moore at 8:36 a.m. today:

"On Monday the 15th of April, Alleghany County Sheriff Moore was notified by Chief Deputy Wickline of an incident that occurred during the weekend involving Wickline. The incident was a vehicle crash on I-64 in the early morning hours of April 13 in which Wickline left the scene without reporting the crash.

Moore immediately instructed Wickline to contact the Virginia State Police and report the crash, which he did. After the completion of the investigation it was revealed to Sheriff Moore that charges are pending.

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office & Regional Jail want to wish Chad all of the best in life and we are praying for him and his family during this difficult time."
