Alleghany Highlands Chorale To Perform April 28th   Covington, VA (April 22, 2024) - The Alleghany Highlands Chorale will present its Spring Concert on this Sunday afternoon, April 28 at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 185 N. Maple Avenue in Covington. Under the direction of Anne Scruggs, and fellow directors Allan Tucker and Sandra Minter, the Chorale will perform a mixed repertoire of choral favorites. Chorale members are: Sopranos, Jacy Burdette, Reba Cartwright, Beverly Johnson, Pearl Miller, Sandra Minter, Cathy Rowan, Anne Scruggs, and, Dawn Wilson, and Michele Wright Altos, Debby Amick, Emily Amick, Pat Myers, Susan Rollinson, Heather Simmons, and Debbie Young. Tenors Lon Rollinson, Lucas Skiff, Gary Whitmer, and Wayne Winebriner Basses, Howard Liptrap, Jr., Allan Tucker, and David Wheeler Cathy Drummer is the chorale accompanist. In addition, Gary Whitmer will play piano with Sandra Minter on the organ. Doors will open for seating at First Presbyterian beginning at 2:30 pm. Admission is by donation. Arritt Funeral Home is the corporate co-sponsor of the group, which operates under the auspices of the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council.
