Tamra Lipscomb Named MGCC Educator of the Year   Clifton Forge, VA (March 21, 2024) - Tamra Lipscomb was named the Mountain Gateway Community College Educator of the Year during the 45th Annual Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism annual dinner on March 9, 2024. “Thank you so much for this incredible honor,” Tamra said. “Being recognized as Educator of the Year by the Alleghany Highlands Chamber is truly humbling and meaningful to me. I am deeply grateful for the support of my colleagues, students, the community, and my supportive family who inspire me to do better every single day.” “We are so pleased for Tamra,” said MGCC President Dr. Rainone. “She has a distinguished career in industry, at the secondary level, and at MGCC. She brings those many diverse experiences into the classroom where her students shine because of her teaching abilities. I could not be prouder of her success.” Tamra boasts an impressive career spanning more than 18 years at Mountain Gateway Community College. Currently, she serves as the Program Head for Information Systems Technology, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the realm of education and information technology. Before delving into the education sector, Tamra sharpened her skills in the private industry, undertaking IT and project management roles for reputable companies in northern Virginia, including Vitro Corporation, GTE Government Systems, AT&T Solutions, and AT&T Government Markets. These experiences have equipped her with a profound understanding of industry standards and trends. Tamra’s passion lies in utilizing her expertise to empower individuals and organizations to achieve their objectives through technology. She holds an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Strayer University, complemented by an A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems from Northern Virginia Community College.
