Concerned Christian Baptist Church 27th Anniversary Set March 3rd

Covington, VA (Feb. 23, 2024) - The Concerned Christian Baptist Church located at 329 E. Cherry Street in Covington, VA, will be celebrating its 27th anniversary on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Pastor William O. Hickman, III will deliver the sermon at the 11:00 a.m. service. Following the sermon, at the 4:00 p.m. worship service, Larnell Starkey & The Spiritual Seven Gospel Singers from Wirtz, VA, will perform in concert.
Larnell Starkey & The Spiritual Seven Gospel Singers originated as an R&B group in 1968, but their mother advised them to switch to gospel music, which they did. In 2007, they represented Roots of Virginia at the Smithsonian Institute. In 2011, they received the Power of Praise Award from Denmark, SC. In 2012, Travis Starkey, their lead guitarist, became the first African American to play and place in the Galax Fiddlers Convention in Galax, VA. In 2023, they were recognized as a Black Family Group that was created and resides in Virginia and has gained national recognition for their music.
