Seymour Gets Big Sentence For Sodomy, Child Pornography Here

Covington, VA (July 7, 2023) - On June 18, 2021, Internet Crimes Against Children notified the Sheriff’s Office of apparent child pornography that had been uploaded onto the “KIK” app.
After legal processes were served on the electronic service providers it was determined the location of the uploaded image was on Dunlap Creek Road in Covington. Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office Investigators executed search warrants on electronic devices, the electronic service provider and at the residence on Dunlap Creek Road.
At the conclusion of the investigation while working with the Commonwealth Attorney, indictments were sought against Dakota Garrett Seymour, age 25, of Dunlap Creek Road. Seymour was arrested on May 4, 2022 and incarcerated in Alleghany Regional Jail without bond.
Seymour was charged with Sodomy, age of victim 13 years or less, Child Pornography – Reproduce, Indecent Liberties with Child less than 15 years of age, and Produce Child Pornography, victim less than 15 years of age.
On September 27, 2022, Seymour pled guilty to Sodomy, age of victim 13 years or less and Reproduce Child Pornography. On June 13, 2023, he received 20 years on the Sodomy charge and 5 years on the Reproduce Child Pornography charge.
Seymour is still incarcerated at Alleghany Regional Jail and will eventually be remanded to a Department of Corrections facility.
