Area Governmental Officials Proclaim April As Clean-Up Month Here

Covington, VA (March 23, 2023) - April has been proclaimed clean up month in the Alleghany Highlands by the four local governing bodies. Each citizen, as is able, is encouraged to clean up at least one bag of litter during the week of April 16-22.

Clubs, organizations, businesses, and families are encouraged to select a location for cleanup and to report the time and date to the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. The Chamber will post these dates, as well as before and after photos, on the Alleghany Proud Facebook page. Please email the photos to Josh Taylor jtaylor@ahchamber.com.

The Chamber has orange trash bags that may be used for pick up. The Chamber also has sticks to assist with picking up trash that may be borrowed for cleanup. Contact the Chamber at 540-962-2178 to set a time to pick up bags. When full, these can be placed on the side of the road and the Virginia Department of transportation will pick them up.
