| WestRock's Covington Mill Announces Position Changes
|
| Covington, VA (April 22, 2021) - WestRock’s Alleghany Highlands Operations announces position changes that were internally announced earlier this year.
Brad Day has accepted the position of reliability manager at the Low Moor converting plant. In this position, he is responsible for setting up and driving continual improvement in predictive and preventive processes to achieve defined safety, reliability, and performance metrics. He is also responsible for managing the on-site contract maintenance group, overseeing daily maintenance operations, and will serve as facility lead for capital planning and installation processes.
Day earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1987 and obtained a two-year Bible diploma from Liberty Bible Institute in 1994. He was a Dominion Power co-op in Mt. Storm, West Virginia, during college and joined the Covington mill as a technical assistant in 1987. Since then, he has held the positions of senior process engineer on No. 1 Paper Machine, senior electrical engineer in the Instrument department, and senior electrical engineer in the E&I department. Day was promoted to E/I/PCS assistant maintenance superintendent in 2009 and assumed the role of E/I/PCS superintendent in 2011. In 2017, Day accepted the position of senior project engineer in the Engineering department.
Michael Painter has accepted the position of quality manager at the Low Moor converting plant. In this position, he is responsible for quality assurance, the quality management system, ISO, and training.
Painter received a B.S. degree in Wood Science and Technology from West Virginia University in 2005. He worked for Quality Cabinets as finish supervisor in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, from 2006 - 2008, and was quality manager for Masco Cabinetry in Mount Sterling from 2008 - 2013. He joined WestRock in April 2013 as the capability lead at the Low Moor converting plant. In 2014, Painter accepted the position of quality supervisor at Low Moor.
Josh Norman has accepted the position of superintendent - No. 2 Paper Machine. In this position, he will be responsible for the daily operations of No. 2 Paper Machine, including safety, housekeeping, quality, and production.
Norman earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Fairmont State University in 2012. In 2008, he stacked lumber for the Mullican Lumber Company, and from 2009 to 2011, he was a co-op for WVDOT DOH as a surveying crew assistant. Norman joined the Covington mill in 2012 as a process engineer in the Technical department and was assigned to No. 2 Paper Machine. In 2014, he accepted the position of dry-end engineer on No. 2 Paper Machine, and in 2016, he accepted the position of maintenance validator for No. 2 Paper Machine. Norman was promoted to No. 2 Paper Machine wet-end engineer in 2019.
Nathan Hale has accepted the position of reliability superintendent. In this position, he is responsible for managing the reliability, condition monitoring, lubrication, and planner groups across the mill.
Hale earned his B.A. in Communications from Virginia Wesleyan College in 2000, and received his M.S. in Education and Sports Management from Old Dominion University in December 2002. In 2005, he accepted the position of operations director for James Madison University’s women’s basketball team, and in 2007, he joined the Alleghany Highlands YMCA as program director. Hale joined the Covington mill as a laborer in GMS&S in October 2008, and transferred to cleanup utility on No. 2 Paper Machine in April 2011. He assumed the role of utility assistant on No. 2 Paper Machine in June 2011, and held the position of wrapline engineer and validator in July 2012. In 2015, Hale moved to Area 1 Maintenance as maintenance planner/ supervisor and accepted the position of maintenance superintendent - Area l in 2017.
Samantha Posten has accepted the position of AMS - Paper Mill (Area I). In this position, she is responsible for the maintenance, reliability, and availability of the paper machines, as well as coating stock preparation, loading, finishing, auxiliary operations, and any other equipment in Area l.
Posten worked at the Greenbrier Resort from 2005 - 2012 before joining Allstate Insurance as senior sales producer in 2012. In 2016, she accepted the position of maintenance data analyst through ManPower at the Covington mill. Posten joined Westrock, in 2017, as a maintenance planner - intermediate. In 2019, she accepted the position of tour foreman and, in 2020, she accepted the position of AMS - General Mill Services. | | | |
