Rich Patch, VA (Jan. 6, 2021) - After the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department was notified of an incident at 5517 Hays Gap Road on Wednesday night involving a baseball bat and the wounding of a female, Lionel Walton, 34, apparently attempted to barricade himself to avoid arrest.

That didn't turn out well for him.

After deputies assisted the female to get treatment by the Boiling Springs Rescue Squad (which later transported the female to LewisGale Alleghany Regional Hospital about midnight), Walton was taken into custody about 1 a.m. Thursday.

He now finds himself in the Alleghany Regional Jail, charged with malicious wounding and no bail.

The Journal has learned that the victim's name is Danielle Reynolds, 33, of the residence. Ms. Reynolds told the Journal that she has a severe concussion and a deep laceration on her heard, resulting in twelve stitches.

Said Ms. Reynolds: "He was my ex boyfriend. He had just gotten out of the mental hospital Monday for trying to kill me and himself. He said the devil was in him telling him to kill me."
