Covington Police Arrest Several For Drug Crimes
Traffic Stops Earlier Result In Drug Possession, Weapons Charges

 
Covington, VA (April 17, 2019) - On April 16, 2019, the Covington Division of Police along with the assistance of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at an area hotel in the city of Covington in relation to multiple narcotics violations. Upon searching the room, approximately 60 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $4,800-$6,000 and $770 in US currency were located along with various items used in the packaging and distribution of the illegal narcotics and miscellaneous paraphernalia items were located and seized. This operation led to the arrest of 3 individuals involved with the illegal distribution of narcotics to the citizens of Covington, the County of Alleghany and the area at large.

This operation was preceded by multiple traffic stops that were conducted on April 15th by the department’s Investigations Unit, who utilized the Patrol Division and K-9 Gera (who was integral in the investigations by alerting on the vehicles), which led to the arrest of a suspended driver who was in the possession of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia and the arrest of a revoked driver due to a DUI offense, who was also a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a schedule I/II drug.
