Hayslett To Present Program At The CF Library
Clifton Forge, VA (Nov. 19, 2018) - The Clifton Forge Public Library cordially invites the public to attend the program, â€śNatural Wonders of the Alleghany Highlands,â€ť presented by Michael Hayslett. It will be held on Tuesday, November 27, in the Michael Armstrong Community Room of the Library. It will begin at 6:00 p.m.
â€śAutumn is an ideal time,â€ť Mr. Hayslett says, â€śto enjoy and consider the beauty of our mountains in the western Highlands region of Virginia.â€ť A local field biologist, master naturalist, and educator, his program will include a slide show that â€śfocuses on the fascinating natural features, flora, and fauna that make our area beloved by outdoor recreation and nature enthusiasts alike.â€ť The program will also include the regionâ€™s wildlife and geology.
â€śThis lively armchair hike of the nature of our region through the seasons will feature images, photography, and information about the natural wonders of Alleghany and surrounding counties,â€ť he says, with a â€śspecial emphasis on natural wonders.â€ť
The program will conclude with a time for questions and comments from the audience.
After pursuing an advanced education, Mr. Hayslettâ€™s 30-plus year career included working as a wildlife biologist, park ranger, wetlands consultant, and college instructor. Upon returning to his hometown of Clifton Forge in 2014, he served as Assistant Professor of Biology at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.
Mr. HayslettÂ remains actively involved in natural resources conservation, research, and the natural history ofÂ ourÂ area through volunteering with theÂ Alleghany Highlands Master Naturalists, theÂ Cowpasture River Preservation Association, and theÂ Clifton ForgeÂ Parks & Trails Committee; as well asÂ part time employment throughÂ Douthat State Park, theÂ U.S. Forest Service, and his private consulting firm,Â Virginia Vernal Pools, LLC.
HeÂ continues toÂ explore the natural world and enjoysÂ sharing that passion with others.
Light refreshments will be provided following Mr. Hayslettâ€™s program.
