Ava Lorene Watkins, 86, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia died June 7, 2018 at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab Center.

She was born April 5, 1932 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late James Harvey Higgins and Ava Wilhem Higgins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Robert Jones, Carol Jones and Susie Harris.

Ava is survived by her husband, Wilmer Lee Watkins; daughters, Anna Watkins, Julie Duff, Sherry Cash and Wanda Dreyer; sons, Michael Jones, Terry Jones and Gregory Watkins; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A funeral service was held at Faith Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 by the Rev. Terry Bostic. Burial will follow at Glasgow Cemetery.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
