Clifton Forge Native, Former Roanoke Memorial Hospital Administrative Assistant, Dies At Age 72

Velma Dawn Nicely Musser, 72, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

Born October 1, 1952, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, Velma was the daughter of the late Herman Edgar and Thelma Conner Nicely.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wetzel and Clayton Nicely, and her infant sister, Allison Nicely.

Velma worked as an administrative assistant at Roanoke Memorial Hospital before moving to Greensboro in 1982.

She was a member of Calvary Church where she also worked as an administrative assistant for 16 years.

Velma is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas Musser, of the home; son, Travis Wayne Musser, of Greensboro, three step-daughters, Heidi Lyn Kincaid of Covington, Virginia, Tonya Lea Holly and husband, Scott, of Covington, Virginia, and Betina Denise Musser, of Charleston, SC; and five grandchildren, Astrid, Haden, Hannah, Kirsten, and Logan.

The funeral was held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2025, in the East Auditorium at Calvary Church, in Greensboro, officiated by Pastor Scott Truhe. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2025, at Central Advent Christian Cemetery in Clifton Forge, Virginia. The family received friends Saturday evening, March 22, 2025, from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
