Obituary for Sara Jane Meador Jones Sara Jane Meador Jones
Lewisburg Resident, Dedicated Gardener, Dies At Age 82

Sara Jane Meador Jones, age 82, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed peacefully at home on March 20, 2025.

She was born in 1942 to Curtis and Mattie Meador.

Sara graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and married her high school sweetheart, G. Randolph "Sandy" Jones, who preceded her in death five years earlier.

Sara was a long-time member of LUMC. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life and she found great comfort in her church family.

She was a member of Chapter F. PEO and Daughters of the American Revolution and a local garden club. Known for her passion for gardening, Sara was a master gardener and was awarded yard of the month several times.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet M. Jeffries, and her brother, Cecil Curtis Meador.

Survivors include her children, David R. Jones (Julie) of Charlottesville, VA; John A. Jones (Marcella) of Dublin, VA, and Sara J. Coleman (Michael) of Midlothian, VA; six grandchildren, Claire Nickell, Jackson Coleman, Jennifer Torrence, Courtney Stuart, Abby Jones, and Mattie Jones. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Paisley Stuart, Pratt Stuart, Parker Stuart, and Randolph "Rodey" Torrence.

The family would like to express their profound appreciation to Sara's caregivers, including Faye Brown, Frances Burns, Maryann Andrews, Patty Hill, and Megan Raddant.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Geiger officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
