Katie Lorraine (Mousey) Burnette, age 71, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem.

Ms. Burnette was born July 16, 1953 in Ronceverte, WV, the daughter of the late Othor Chapman Massie and Arlena Ramsey Massie.

During her working career, she was employed as certified nursing assistant and enjoyed working as a caregiver to several people.

Ms. Burnett is survived by a son, Steven Goelling of Covington; a sister, Ethel Van Buren of Tazewell; a number of nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Maggie May.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Burnette was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Lee "Dot" Massie Tucker, Edie Crosier, Ruth Holcomb, Tippy Harless, Irene O'Neill, Linda Smith, and Lulabelle Wykle; and a brother, Jerry "Buck" Massie.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery, 2753 Rodgers Road, Ronceverte, WV.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until the time of service at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that donations take the form of contributions to Loving Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
