Obituary for Kenneth Lee Carter, Sr. Kenneth Lee Carter, Sr.
White Sulphur Springs Resident, Longtime Greenbrier Resort Cook, Dies At Age 82

Kenneth Lee Carter, Sr., 82, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, went to his Heavenly Home on November 18, 2024.

He was born February 15, 1942 in Gap Mills, WV, the son of the late William and Mary Frances Carter Banks.

Kenny had to withdraw from school at an early age to help his family. At the age of 17, he enrolled as an apprentice in the culinary school at the Greenbrier Hotel which took him to a career in cooking with 49 plus years of service to the Greenbrier Hotel.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Sulphur Springs.

Kenny and his wife, Jackie spent their years raising a loving family.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jacqueline Berry Carter on February 11, 2024; sons, William "Billy" Carter and Keith Berry, Sr.; granddaughter, Kara Berry, grandson, Jerome Taylor and sisters, Peggy Miller and Gertrude Moore.

Those left to cherish Kenny's memory are his daughters, Karen Winkfield and Kayla Mann (Dale); sons, Kenneth Carter, Jr. (Rosemary) and Kendrick Carter (Becky); grandchildren, Marcus Berry (Misty), Matthew Winkfield (Patrice), Michael Winkfield (Lillah), Monica Wilmer (Mike), Tonita Dixon (Jamal), Kadin Burris (Hannah), Keith Berry (Brianna), Allie Hicks (Greg), Koah Carter and Kennox Lee Carter; great-grandchildren, Ethan Berry, Taylor Noel, Bryce Winkfield, Braxtyn Winkfield, Summer Berry, Kaylee Berry, Rowan Wilmer, Amani Carter, A.J. Dixon, Keyana Berry; step grandchildren, Whitney and Natasha Pack.

Funeral services for Kenny will be held on December 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of White Sulphur Springs with Rev. Ronald Sherrod and Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at the church on December 5, 2024.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
