Lewisburg Resident, Longtime Lewisburg Post Office Clerk, Dies At Age 79
Phyllis Ann Lewis Johnson, 79, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, following a brief illness.
Born July 1, 1945 at Friars Hill, WV, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Lee Williams Lewis.
Phyllis was a retired clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. She worked for many years in the Lewisburg Post Office.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Avery Kenos Johnson on October 8, 2021; she was also preceded in death by her only son, Russell "Choppy" Williams on November 18, 2022, and a brother, Clyde Harold Lewis.
Phyllis is survived by a dear friend, Millie Arbaugh of Asbury, WV, and several cousins.
Per her wishes, Phyllis donated her body to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Human Gift Registry, in Lewisburg. No services will be held.
The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
