Jody Wilson Hanson, 63, of Rock Cliff Road, Rupert, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Born on February 15, 1959 in Ronceverte; he was the son of James Wilson Hanson and Ruby Willadene Jones Hanson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James "Jamie" B. Hanson in 2004.

Jody liked bluegrass music and playing the banjo. He loved eating and sitting on the porch with family and his friends, Jennings "White Owl" Hughart, Eddie Ray, Mike Hunter and loved his companionship with Betty.

He never met a stranger. He loved children and babies, giving people nicknames and shaking hands. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing earlier in life. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Heather Woods of Lewisburg; three granddaughters; sisters, Shelby (David) Oreolt of Grandview, Sheila (Murlin) Hanna of Crawley; brothers, Gene Hanson of Rupert, Cody Hanson of Clintonville; his companion, Betty Hunter and her daughters, Gina (Robert) Knapp of Montvale, VA and Candy Hunter of Ronceverte; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Rick Keener officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m.until time of service.
