Covington, VA (Oct. 31, 2025)— It was a rewarding senior night for the Alleghany Cougars who took on, and then devoured, the Fort Defiance Indians at Casey Field. With senior quarterback Des Jordan leading the team, the Cougars brought home seven touchdowns, allowed three, and rose to victory with a score of 35-21. This win puts the Cougars at 8-1 going into next week's away game against Rockbridge County.

The first quarter started off strong for the Cougars with Des Jordan running in both Alleghany touchdowns, while junior Mason Hale secured both extra points. This put Alleghany at an early lead of 14-0 going into the second quarter.

Much like the first quarter, Alleghany once again secured two touchdowns and the extra point kicks, courtesy of Hale. The first touchdown was a pass from Jordan to Austin Greene, while the second TD went to senior Carter Nicely. The Cougars were up 28-0 going into the half.

In the third quarter, it was another pass from Des Jordan to junior Austin Greene which secured the seventh and final touchdown for the Cougars. The extra point kick put them up 35-0 going into the last quarter of the game.

For whatever reason, Fort Defiance found some momentum where the Cougars seemed to take it a bit easy in the fourth. The Indians secured three impressive touchdowns which saved them from a shutout, but it was much too little, much too late to overcome the Cougars' dominance. When all was said and done, the Cougars walked away with a nice 8-1 record and a 35-21 win over their opponents at Casey Field.
Many seniors were honored with their families by their sides during Alleghany High School's senior night at Casey Field.
