Virginia Children’s Theatre Summer Camp and The Historic Masonic Theatre Present James and the Giant Peach   Clifton Forge, VA (May 29, 2023) - On Friday, June 23 at 5:00 pm students of the Virginia Children’s Theatre Summer Camp at The Historic Masonic Theatre present James and the Giant Peach. The camp is presented by Roanoke’s Virginia Children’s Theatre. Virginia Children’s Theatre (VCT) is an independently owned and operated 501c3 organization that is solely dedicated to youth, schools and their families. Their mission is to inspire youth and audiences to use their imagination, build confidence and come together as a community through the magic of live theatre. James and the Giant Peach is the story of a Magical Peach! An imprisoned boy! Insect friends! An incredible journey! This amazing adventure of James Henry Trotter will fulfill the fantasy of anyone who has ever dreamed of escape. Roald Dahl’s story comes hilariously to life in this delightful dramatization that reveals the wickedness of some, the goodness of others, and the indecision encountered by many when they are faced with crises. You will see James (as he cleverly gets the Peach out of danger), the wise Old-Green-Grasshopper and the pessimistic Earthworm. You will also see James’ mean Aunt Spiker and cruel Aunt Sponge come to a suitably sticky end. The action is tied together by the Narrator, a storyteller, motivator, emcee and audience friend. Take advantage of the quick costuming, simple props and basic scenery that provides the audience with an exciting, peachy adventure! The Camp Schedule is geared to students 8-16 years of age and includes Theatre instruction, rehearsals, lunches and the final student performance. The performance features students performing alongside professional actors and instructors. At this writing there is only one space available for Summer Camp which begins June 19.
