Concerned Christian Baptist Church Sets 22nd Anniversary Celebration Oct. 30th

 
Covington, VA (Oct. 20, 2022) - The Concerned Christian Baptist Church at 329 E. Cherry St. will be holding a 22nd Anniversary celebration of its pastor and first lady Rev. and Mrs. William O. Hickman III on October 30 at 3 p.m.

Rev. Rosetta Stewart, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Covington will be the guest minister and the Choir from Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church will provide the music for the event.

Rev. Stewart is the daughter of the late Deaconess Leatha Stewart and the late Deacon Dennie Stewart. She was educated in the Covington Public School System, graduating from Covington High School (class of 1968) and the former Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (class of 1970). After leaving Covington, Rev. Stewart completed her B. A. degree in Psychology (class of 1975), M. A. degree in International Relations (class of 1981) and completed her doctoral coursework, all from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Divine intervention led her to the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D. C. where she received her M. Divinity Degree (class of 2003).

Rev. Stewart was licensed to preach in 2003, and received her Certificate of Ordination in 2004 from Metropolitan Baptist Church (formerly of Washington, D.C.) under the pastorate of the now Senior Serwant, the Rev. Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr.

In 2018, Rev. Stewart became the Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Willie Cannon. Pastor Stewart became pastor of historical First Baptist Church in 2021.
