Community Foundation hosts Legacy Society Garden Party

Lexington, VA (Sept. 16, 2022) - A beautiful afternoon at the home of David and Melissa Cox on Lee Avenue, was the setting for the Community Foundation for Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany Legacy Society Garden Party. The event honored those who have made a lasting commitment to The Community Foundation for Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany. Guests enjoyed delicious hors d’eouvres and wine, accompanied by the Foundation Board of Directors.

Legacy Society members include any individual who has informed the Community Foundation that, upon his or her passing, a gift will be established at the Foundation. Being a member of the Community Foundation’s Legacy Society provides opportunities for meeting other supporters of the Foundation and develop new friendships. Since its beginning in 2011, The Community Foundation has received bequests and gifts totaling $3.2M from its donors.

Individuals who designate a gift to The Community Foundation through a will, trust, retirement plan beneficiary or other planned gift are invited to join the Legacy Society. Membership is voluntary and free. Bequest gifts of all sizes are important and welcomed. Disclosure of gift amount or type is not required. Legacy members are celebrated at an Annual Legacy Society Event. They are recognized in publications and receive invitations to other Foundation events. They can always remain anonymous in their philanthropy. However, Legacy Society participants are an inspiration to others to look toward the future and learn how they too can have an enduring impact on the causes they care about.

As leaders, conveners, grant makers and concierges of philanthropy, The Community Foundation is built on strong community leadership. CFRBA, founded in 2001 as the Rockbridge Area Community Foundation prior to changing its name in 2011, connects donors and their philanthropic aspirations with evolving community needs. With assets of more than $7 million, the Community Foundation has provided more than $3.2 million in grants and scholarships to the communities it serves over the last decade.
