Covington, VA (July 26, 2021) - On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Claude Elliott Elmore of Covington, Virginia, was taken into custody by Alleghany County Sheriff's deputies in connection with a drive-by shooting incident.
(The Journal believes, from other information available, that the incident took place at or close to, 1305 Summit Drive, Covington - see map).
Elmore was charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors, specifically:
• 18.2-286.1 (SHOOT FIREARM FROM VEHICLE) (felony)
• 18.2-279 (DISCHARGING FIREARMS OR MISSILES WITHIN OR AT BUILDING OR DWELLING) (felony)
• 18.2-282 (BRANDISH FIREARM) (misdemeanor)
• 18.2-56.1 (RECKLESS HANDLE OF FIREARM) (misdemeanor)
He is being held without bond in the Alleghany Regional Jail. A preliminary hearing on the case is set for September 13th.
