CF Library Offering Black History Program

 
Clifton Forge, VA (Feb. 13, 2020) - The Clifton Forge Public Library will sponsor a Black History program on Monday, February 24. “Celebrating the Local Black Experience in Arts and Music” will be held in the Library’s Michael Armstrong Community Room and will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Library Director Mike Barnes will welcome a panel of African American artists and musicians. Teresa Johnson will facilitate the discussion with panelists Ms. Jada Callender, Ms. Pam Marshall, The Reverend Pete Moore, and Mr. Aaron Smith. They will share stories about their involvement within their area of expertise in the arts and music.

A graduate of Clifton Forge High School, Hampton University, and Radford University, Mrs. Johnson formerly worked with the Alleghany County Public Schools as an elementary teacher, middle school teacher, and administrator. She is currently a doctoral candidate of Virginia Tech and serves as the Director of Education at Boys Home.

“Celebrating the Local Black Experience in Arts and Music” will conclude with a time for questions and comments from the audience.

Following the program, light refreshments will be provided.
