Fire Erupts At Cliftondale Country Club Cart Sheds

Clifton Forge, VA (Oct. 14, 2019) - Many golf carts were burned to a crisp early Monday, Oct. 14, 2019 (about 11 - 11:15 a.m.) at the Cliftondale Country Club after a fire of unknown origin spread from one vehicle to the next.

The Sharon Fire Dept. quickly responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze relatively quickly, but not before some nearby trees were singed and many carts were burned up. The shed's metal buckled due to the heat and nearby golfers and residents reported one explosion after another when the cart's gas tanks exploded. There were no injuries.

The Selma and Clifton Forge Fire Departments also responded to the scene. Longdale Furnace Road was closed to through traffic as well.
