|Arts Council Bring Missoula Children's Theatre Here, July 29|
Covington, VA (July 3, 2019) - Missoula Children's Theatre will be in town in time for one last adventure before school begins!
An audition will be held for the production of THE EMPERORâ€™S NEW CLOTHES Monday, July 29 in Curfman Hall at Covington High School from 10:00 AM until noon. Kids entering first through twelfth grade are invited are encouraged to audition. Sorry but children must have completed kindergarten to participate.
No advance preparation is necessary for the audition and there is never a fee to participate. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Those auditioning should arrive on time and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.
There are some great roles for teens, tweens and youngsters. Roles to be filled are - the Emperor; ManyPenny and the Money Council; the Royal Scholars Roxy and Red; Kings, Queens; Gem and the Royal Jewelers; Boots and the Royal Cobblers; Lid and the Royal Hatters; Stitch and the Royal Tailors; and the Royal Silkworms.
The Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 AM until 2:30 PM each day. Not every cast member will be called for the full rehearsal period each day, but a commitment of open availability is required at time of audition.
Our musical production of THE EMPERORâ€™S NEW CLOTHES will be presented on Saturday, August 3 at Covington High School. Missoula Children's Theatre residencies have been brought to our community by Alleghany Highlands Arts Council since 1995. Funding is provided by The Alleghany Foundation, Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
