Rusmisel Announces Candidacy For Alleghany County Treasurer

 
Covington, VA (June7, 2019) - Charles Rusmisel announced his candidacy recently for Alleghany County Treasurer.

“I am seeking the opportunity to serve my community as the Treasurer of Alleghany County, continuing the tradition of professionalism in the Treasurer’s office while striving to improve efficiency and service to the citizens of Alleghany County," he said.

Charles Rusmisel is a resident of the Valley Ridge neighborhood where he lives with his wife of 25 years, Debbie. She is a teacher with Covington City Schools at Jeter Watson Intermediate school. Together they have four boys, Nick, Zack, Nate, and Sam.

Charles Rusmisel is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor degree in International Studies. He began his career in finance in 1992 working for Dominion Investment Banking as a bond trader in Roanoke. When Dominion Bank and First Union bank merged in 1993 he accepted a position as an Investment Counselor. He initially worked in the Alleghany Highlands as an Investment Counselor with First Union bank and moved here in 1994 as the manager of First Union bank branch on Main Street overseeing deposits, loans, and investments.

He left First Union in 2000 to return to work as a Registered Representative with Axa Advisors out of Roanoke. He was hired by BB&T bank as a Financial Consultant in 2002, covering branches in Bath, Alleghany, Rockbridge, and Augusta Counties.

He has held a license as a Registered Representative and Life and Health Insurance agent since 1993. He became a Registered Investment Advisor in 2000 and a Registered Securities Principal in 2001. He has worked as a fiduciary his entire career assisting individuals and small business with financial planning and investments.

“I have spent my career helping individuals, businesses, and governments maximize the performance of their assets and look forward to applying that experience to the position of Treasurer with Alleghany County”, Rusmisel stated.

Charles has been involved in the community in many ways. He served on the local board of The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Alleghany United Fund, The Alleghany March of Dimes, the Alleghany Highlands Youth Soccer Association, and the YMCA. He has volunteered in the local schools as a guest reader, PTO president, Career Tweets participant, and Reality Fair participant. He coached youth soccer teams for many years and has been a volunteer wrestling coach for Clifton Middle School and Alleghany High School for 10 years.

Charles and his family are members of Temple Baptist Church where he has taught Sunday School and served on the Stewardship and Personnel committees.

“I hope to have the opportunity to earn the votes of the citizens of Alleghany County and look forward to serving as your Treasurer. My sincerest thanks to all who have encouraged me to take this step, especially those who signed my petition of qualified voters.”
