 | Buena Vista, VA (June 7, 2018) - Five students were selected as the 2017-18 Outstanding Scholars in seven different disciplines at the Jackson River Governor’s School, hosted at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge. From left: Margaret Donnan, Outstanding Physics Scholar; Tristan Brown, Outstanding Statistics Scholar; and Ian DeHaven, Outstanding Research Scholar and Outstanding Pre-Calculus Scholar. Donnan is a recent graduate of Alleghany High School, and Brown recently completed his junior year at AHS; DeHaven is a rising senior at James River High School. Not pictured: Evan Rose (Covington High School), Outstanding Chemistry Scholar and Outstanding Calculus Scholar; and Daniel Holter (James River HS), Outstanding Biology Scholar. The awards were presented at the annual JRGS Scholars Banquet held May 30 at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista.
