Library Sponsors Summer Reading Program

Clifton Forge, VA (May 23, 2018) - The Clifton Forge Public Library will sponsor its annual Summer Reading Program from June 1 through August 3 for area children ages 3 through 12. The theme is “Reading Takes You Everywhere.â€

Programs will be held every Wednesday throughout June and July, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. However, there will be no program on July 4.

Unless otherwise advertised, programs will be held in the library’s Michael Armstrong Community Room.

Each program will include a story, crafts, and activities.

At the conclusion of the final program on July 25, the children will receive free books and a snack.

For each program, parents or legal guardians are asked to accompany their preschoolers and primary grade children.

The library encourages reading at all levels. Between June 1 and August 3, readers ages 3 to adult are encouraged to keep a written log of books they have read, or that were read to them.

For children ages 3-18, prizes will be awarded for every five hours of reading. Additionally, they will receive an entry into a prize drawing for every five hours of reading.

There will also be prize drawings for adult readers, age 19 and older. For every ten books read, they will receive an entry into a prize drawing.

All reading logs must be turned in no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3.

Prizes will include gift cards.

Readers of all ages need to pick up a reading log at the Clifton Forge Public Library, located at 535 Church Street.

For more information on any library program, contact the library at 863-2519.
