'Cash Unchained', Johnny Cash Tribute at The Historic Masonic Theatre

Clifton Forge, VA (May 9, 2018) - Hold onto your (black) hats; “Cash Unchained, the ultimate Johnny Cash tribute band will be performing at The Historic Masonic Theatre on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 pm in the John E Hillert Auditorium. The event is sponsored by Covington/Hot Springs Rotary Club and is the kick-off for Alleghany Highlands Heritage Day & Railway Festival on Saturday, June 2 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Take a journey back in time to experience the life and music of "The Man in Black" performed by “Cash Unchained”. The band has been nationally sought after while touring all over the United States bringing the sights and sounds of the legendary Johnny Cash. From the early days with Sam Philips at Sun Records to the later years with Rick Rubin and American Recordings, “Cash Unchained” delivers a complete catalog of breathtaking music from one of the greatest country artists of all time. Experience it on June 1 for one night only!

Johnny Cash may not have been the greatest singer or musical technician, but his sound was unforgettable. Steady like a train, sharp like a razor, with the perfect blend of country, rock 'n' roll, and folk music, Cash paved the way for artists of all genres for years to come. Without Johnny Cash, we wouldn't have some of the music we've all enjoyed over the six decades. Performed by some of the finest musicians in the state of Virginia, James Tamelcoff captures Cash's trademark baritone voice, while his band delivers the infectious, driving rhythm of the Tennessee Three.

The group has sold-out theatres across the southeast, including the legendary House of Blues. They will entertain you with Cash’s greatest hits including “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Ring of Fire”, “Walk the Line”, and many more. You will also hear songs from the end of Cash’s career including his final hit “Hurt” written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails).

Marla Akridge, president of the Rotary Club said, “This partnership with the Historic Masonic Theatre is so valuable for the Covington-Hot Springs Rotary Club.  The proceeds raised with this event go back into the Alleghany Highlands for Youth programs. We invite everyone to The Historic Masonic Theatre to share the music of Johnny Cash and “Cash Unchained.”

Tickets for “Cash Unchained: Ultimate Johnny Cash Tribute” may be purchased online at www.historicmasaonictheatre.com or by calling the Theatre Box Office at 540 862 5655.
