Clifton Forge, VA (Dec. 11, 2017) - Dabney S. Lancaster Community College student and Army veteran Zach Reed points to a pin he placed on the country of Qatar, where he served with the 29th Infantry during his tour in the Middle East. The world map is in the Veterans Center in its new location on the DSLCC campus, in Room 151, Backels Hall. “We invite all veterans, whether they served overseas or stateside, or during war or peacetime, to stop by and place a pin where they served, and see what services the Veterans Center offers,” says Maranda Rowe, who, like Reed, is a Veteran Services Representative. Veterans and dependents may receive help in applying for VA and state-related educational benefits, college admission and federal financial aid.

Reed, 22, a 2014 graduate of Alleghany High School, is enrolled in the general studies program at DSLCC with plans to transfer to Virginia Military Institute. The Veterans Center is open Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm, and Fridays from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Call (540) 863-2856 or email mrowe@dslcc.edu for more information.
